Join us for a day of inspiration and networking to discover how your library makes an impact on the literacy of students. We have secured a great line-up of speakers presenting a broad range of perspectives on school libraries and the importance of reading.
Opening this event is Jim Bell, Deputy Director General of Education - DoE vision on the role of school libraries.
Speakers also include:
Fiona Walker, Head of Literacy, DoE - how school libraries can support the curriculum.
Lee Woodcock, Principal, Rostrata Primary School - providing his view on the important contribution a school library can make to student outcomes.
Stewart Farley, Youth Services Librarian, Grove Library - age appropriateness of titles, and how your local library can support your school and families.
James Layton, Larrikin House Publishing - giving an insight into the world of publishing.
Michelle Murphy, Graphic Novel Specialist, Westbooks - how to choose graphic novels suited to your clientele.
Helen Milroy, Indigenous author and consultant psychiatrist - Helen is passionate about libraries and promoting reading including Indigenous
storytelling and the associated benefits to children.
Plus a variety of library suppliers will be onsite to display their products
LIBRARY OFFICER EXCELLENCE AWARDS
Winners of the Library Officer Excellence Awards will be announced and presented with their awards.
Nominations are now closed.
All nominees will be notified and winners will be announced at the LOAD 2021.
We encourage nominations from metro as well as country schools within Western Australia.
